THORACIC

a modular site specific mid fidelity prototype, made to draw more attention
 to its surrounding structure.
Skills: Woodworking, power and handtools, sketching and prototyping,

Thoracic is a site-specific piece designed to create more attention towards mundane structures one wouldn’t normally interact with. Focused on the pillar of Cambie bridge, Thoracic wraps around the pillar and creates an interactive sitting environment around a structure that often goes unnoticed. Meant to emulate an elongated chair, Thoracic is composed of a combination of found objects and craft. With the main component being a chair, it invites the viewer to come and sit while also interacting with the modularity; whether you want to angle the seating up or place your bags on the ‘Thoracic’ organic moving parts. My piece invites interaction and attention towards structures (pillars) that deserve more love and admiration than solely focusing on its functionality.
